Who is ready to start Nourished Life Steps?
Nourished Life Steps is a month long of guidance, instructing and learning about yourself. Yes you! How do you end your day? Do you march beside your bed and get to 10,000 or do you just crawl in and deal with the “I should have just marched beside my bed and now I feel crappy about myself”. I have been there at both sides of this spectrum.
Nourished Life Steps was initially created to help those with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, as I have Ulcerative Colitis, learn an easy way to get healthier. Time and time again I saw the bags of fast food breakfast come to the infusion clinic and thought its time people get educated about it really does matter what you eat! Then I began thinking broader. How can I help people who are either not healthy, fighting any disease, or just are not sure where to start because every diet or way of eating has them back to where they began.
I have been there. A Nourished Life has evolved into me creating the 5 Basics and taking all the guess work out of how to live healthier. Its a lifestyle. This is not a month long … this is to show you it’s not as difficult as society makes it seem. It is easy. You just have to decide everyday to make the right choice and then once you notice how you feel you will want to keep feeling that way. Help me ban the food journals and looking for the foods that upset our bodies. You are nodding aren't you?! Not only does this keep us in a negative cycle but if we are not eating well then everything is bothering our systems of our body, mainly digestion. Let me show you ways to make your body feel better and run smoother and then you can decide if you want to try to narrow down the foods that make you feel bad for the rest of your life or do you want to learn ways to make your body feel better and then look for more ways to stay or improve your health?
Sure there are times you may not be able to get your pee to look like light coloured lemonade but as long as you know your body moves better and you are not so hungry if you keep your pee looking that way… you will strive to get there again and again.
So let me introduce the 5 Basics!
The 5 Basics are simple.
#1 Stay Hydrated
#2 Eat Clean
#3 Move That Body
#4 Sleep Well
#5 Do something you are passionate about daily

Each week we are going to implement some sort of challenge to get us closer to living the 5 basics.
As with every week your goal of 10,000 steps will be a focus, I wouldn’t be a body worker without having movement be a big component to the 5 Basics. As humans, we are meant to move!!
Also in week one we will begin staying hydrated. Your body is more than half water. So, naturally, if we ingest what our body needs many systems of the body will work better. Water to the human body is like oil to a machine.
Joints move better. Skin is more supple and hydrated. Cells flow through the body with ease delivering oxygen. Waste is easily “flushed”(haha!) out easier. Keeps mucosal linings lubricated. Helps with digestion. It’s no wonder we cannot live without it, right?! We lose water through the obvious, such as, perspiration, urinating, bowel movements and breathing. And there is only one way to restore and rehydrate. That’s right, drink water!
