Incorporating the 5 Basics is a battle for some. I have my days too! Let’s learn some of the ways we can do this easily so we can all live a NOURISHED Life!
There is always room for improvement.
But it doesn’t need to be so difficult.
Here is a review of the 5 Basics for those who are new here to this space!
#1 Stay HYDRATED
#2 EAT clean
#3 MOVE that body
#4 SLEEP well
#5 DO something you are PASSIONATE about daily
Seems simple, right? They are! But it also depends on how we are feeling.
Are we stressed? Sleep can be affected by stress in our lives.
Are we injured or experiencing a flare? This may impact moving your body as you may not want to try to get to the gym. Injury can impact moving at all but you can get creative. If it’s an ankle strain focus on the back and arms.
There is always a way, stay open to that. Where there’s a will… there is a way!
Now let’s break them down into simple ways to incorporate them into our daily life. I am including a few of my own favorite links
Hydration:
Keep a glass/ bottle of water on your desk.
Get one of these water bottles to keep you on schedule without you having to plan it for yourself each and every day. FREE yourself from creating schedules for every little thing: (FYI, I am in the market for a new water bottle and these 2 are in my top few).
Check out this one from Amazon. Its written on the bottle - how easy is that?!!
Or for the person who loves everything tech-related, to work through an APP, through your smartphone :
Eat Clean:
Prep prep prep! Yes, prepping Sunday allows you to pack meals and snacks.
Are you ravished on your way home after work that you grab whatever to snack before or while you cook dinner? I do! Mostly because I do fast during the day while working. I pack nuts and berries or veggies/ tortilla chips and hummus to eat before I get home so I am satisfied and can now wait until dinner is done.
Keep fruit washed and in a bowl so you always have a snack to grab
Look for a protein bar low in sugar. Simply Protein. It reminds me of eating a rice Krispie square! Not heavy and chalky. LOVE IT!
Move That Body:
One of my all-time favorite self-motivating tools is a fitness watch!
Count those steps!
My current watch is by Garmin. Easy to navigate. Has step count, heart rate and gives me my messages so I do not have to stop what I am doing. I could go on. But here is the link if you are in the market for something new, self-motivating and easy to navigate! It’s easy to see why they have so many watches … because they understand there is different goals and movements out there.
Sleep Well:
Turn off or put away your phone an hour before bed. Blue light keeps us awake, longer. If you wear glasses… at your next vision check-up ask about Blue- light filtering lenses.
Caffeine. I, too, love that 3:00pm cup of java, I swear I can smell it right now! But when I need a solid night's sleep or I have been experiencing difficulty getting to sleep I switch it for green tea or herbal tea. Yes, green tea does contain caffeine but it doesn’t disrupt your system like coffee, but will provide a little eye-opening to get you through the last couple hours of your work-day! The reason you might not be able to fall asleep is that caffeine can stay in your system for up to 10 hours. So try it Monday afternoon when you need that 3:00 pm pick-me-up, grab a green or herbal tea instead.

Do what you are passionate about, daily:
Did you know if you have a cause or hobby that you are able to do daily, even if for 5- 10 minutes, it makes you feel full-filled and thrive? It is true.
Schedule it if you have to. Yes, schedule your hobby or whatever brings you joy and do it every. single. day!
If your schedule is tough try doubling up on your schedule. Take a class with a friend!
Don’t know what your passion is? The best way to figure this out is to ask a friend or family member… they usually know!
A NOURISHED Life is not too difficult to achieve it just takes having the correct tools and a little scheduling to make the 5 Basics a part of your everyday lifestyle!
