Some have been questioning what is it about the 5 Basics and why?
For one thing, this has become something I am passionate about and passionate about spreading the word and having others understand.
The “basics” to me signifies the start or beginning. Just like a CEO had to begin at an entry-level position. Or a Sargeant had to be a cadet. In order to truly understand something you need to cover the basics and from there you begin to climb, meaning you continue to learn and increase your knowledge
NOURISHED LIFE MAG was created to help those who just do not know where to start to get healthier. Those who I saw in the infusion room with greasy fast food and pop at 8:30 AM. It actually sickened me to see time and time again. I get someone may have slept in and needs food in the morning but there are better choices…
*insert megaphone*
BETTER CHOICES!
As most know I have Ulcerative Colitis. It is an autoimmune disease, in which the body is attacking itself. So being healthy is a top priority. Keeping inflammation down, trying to remain healthy, and choosing what fuels me when making my choices in the types of hydration, food choices, movement(exercise), sleep health, and am I doing or creating something I am passionate about, and daily!
Those are The 5 Basics of a Nourished Life.
Hydrate
Eat Clean
Move That Body
Sleep Well
Daily Passion
I have seen people who have not taken the time to prep meals or even plan them and then find they are so hungry by the time they get home that they are just reaching for junk foods. Or those who are always thirsty and tired and think coffee or caffeinated tea is what their body requires instead of good quality sleep, water, and maybe better foods that will fuel them longer and not deplete them.
So start NOW to make better choices so in the long run you feel better and your body will work more optimally. It's also important to note that this doesn't mean you will never have a flare again but you will, more than likely, reduce the risk as well be stronger and have more knowledge about your body and what it needs when and if a flare should arise.
I also want to make mention that this is also for those who are experienced, who need a reset, and just need to head back to the basics. Even the most experienced people head back to the basics(It’s all over the podcasts!).
No one is perfect. But you need to start and you need to start TODAY.
To start keep it simple:
-fill the water bottle
-make the new grocery list that limits the packaged stuff and allows you to prep for days ahead
-gym or YouTube or outdoors ...just MOVE 🚶🏼♀️🐕🦺
-go to bed early
-find your passion
It's so simple. So why aren't you doing it? Because it takes work. A little discipline. Some planning. If you look… you will find tools to help you reach your goals, just like showing up here!!

The easiest most accessible one is to drink more water. But start where you are feeling called to as that is probably what you need right now.
